EMF Mitigation Guide

Practical, room-by-room strategies to reduce your EMF exposure. No expensive products required — just smart habits and placement.

Distance is Your Friend

EMF intensity drops dramatically with distance. Even moving a device a few feet away reduces exposure significantly.

Wired > Wireless

Whenever possible, choose wired connections. Ethernet, wired headphones, and USB peripherals eliminate RF exposure.

Off When Not Needed

Turn off WiFi, Bluetooth, and cellular data when not in use. Many devices have quick toggles for this.

Room-by-Room Guide

Bedroom

High Priority

Your sleep sanctuary. Reducing EMF here has the biggest impact since you spend 6-8 hours here daily.

Recommended Actions

Keep phone outside the bedroom or in airplane modehigh impact
Unplug WiFi router at night (use a timer)high impact
Replace wireless alarm clock with battery-poweredmedium impact
Move bed away from electrical panel on other side of wallmedium impact
Use wired baby monitor instead of wirelesshigh impact

Home Office

High Priority

Where many spend 8+ hours daily. Small changes here add up significantly.

Recommended Actions

Use ethernet cable instead of WiFi for computerhigh impact
Use wired keyboard and mousemedium impact
Keep phone on desk, not in pocketmedium impact
Use speakerphone or wired headset for callshigh impact
Turn off Bluetooth when not neededlow impact

Living Room

Medium Priority

Family gathering space with multiple potential sources.

Recommended Actions

Position WiFi router away from seating areashigh impact
Use wired streaming devices instead of WiFimedium impact
Disable WiFi on smart TVs (use ethernet)medium impact
Avoid wireless speakers near seatinglow impact
Consider smart meter opt-out if availablemedium impact

Earthing (Grounding)

Earthing, or grounding, is the practice of connecting your body to the Earth's natural electric charge. Research suggests this may help neutralize positive charges accumulated from EMF exposure and reduce inflammation. While more studies are needed, many find it a simple, free practice worth trying.

Natural Grounding

  • Walk barefoot on grass, soil, sand, or concrete (not asphalt/wood)
  • Swim in natural bodies of water (ocean, lakes, rivers)
  • Garden with bare hands in soil
  • Sit or lie directly on the ground for 20-30 minutes

Indoor Grounding

  • Grounding mats connected to earth port of outlet
  • Grounding sheets for sleeping
  • Grounding bands for wrists/ankles while working
  • Verify outlet is properly grounded before use

Research Highlights

  • • Reduction in blood viscosity and inflammation markers
  • • Improved sleep and reduced cortisol levels
  • • Faster wound healing and reduced pain
  • • Normalization of day-night cortisol rhythm

A Note on EMF Shielding Products

Be cautious of expensive "EMF shielding" products. Many have not been independently tested, and some (like phone case shields) can actually increase exposure by forcing your device to transmit at higher power. The most effective mitigation is always distance and reducing sources — not adding products.
